Dirk has a passion for good music, whether it be classical or electronic, he can do it all. His main instruments are the piano, turn tables, and a synthesizer, but he's pretty good at playing different instruments if he tries. He is a strict teacher, he pushes each and every one of his students to do their best, including the students that come in for martial arts training. In music, he gives tests regularly to make sure that the students know their scales, and in jazz band students can create their own solos that he tests on. He has a strong sense of right and wrong, having become fed up with the police's inability to capture the criminals, mutant and human, he took up his sunglasses and sword, calling himself Strider and taking out the criminals escaping the police. His skin is a bronzey tan color from all the time he's spent in the sun throughout his life. He is built fairly well, definitely more of a PE teacher than a music teacher look, but Dirk never was one for running around in circles. He's tall and lanky yet no where near scrawny. He can usually be seen wearing a white polo-esque shirt with the collar popped, black pants, grey converse and a grey cap. His sunglasses almost never leave his face. He was raised on the back of thoroughbreds and raced them until he became too tall and too heavy to be a jockey, then he started working with his mother's quarter horses. It took about two years, but after the urging from his father he finally took up piano lessons and soon found it to be one of his favorite things to do. Soon after, he was attending a party in which the DJ got drunk and passed out...so he took up the DJ turn tables and started to play around with them. Another passion was born. He played the piano in his highschool jazz band and in college until he got a letter to attend Julliard, one of the most prestigous schools in the country, dedicated to those who excelled in music. He received an associates in music education and solo piano as a minor before heading off to North Salem as soon as he heard a position was open. When he arrived however, he noticed that the police appeared to be slacking here as well as in NYC, so he decided his alias and katana wielding vigilante alter ego would follow him here, and so Strider was born. Now he is rather excited to see mutants allowed in the classroom, and from the looks in their eyes when he can treat them equal to their human peers, it's definitely worth it in the long run.
