• Phasing: Shadowcat has the ability to pass through solid matter. She achieves this by causing the atoms that make up her body to pass through the spaces between the atoms of the object she is moving through. In doing so, she and the object merge temporarily without interacting, and both remain unharmed in the end once she has fully passed through the object. Shadowcat's ability renders her almost completely intangible to physical touch. In most occasions, phasing through an object does not hinder her movements, she passes through objects at the same speed at which she was moving before she entered them. The use of her abilities also interferes with any electrical systems as she passes through by disrupting the flow of electrons from atom to atom, including the bio-electric systems of living bodies if she concentrates in the right way. This typically causes machines to malfunction or be destroyed as she phases through them, and can induce shock and unconsciousness in living beings.
  
  • Intangibility: Her ability allows her to become intangible. Although still visible to others, when she uses her ability she is not able to be touched. While phasing, she does not physically walk on surfaces, but rather interacts with the molecules of air above them, allowing her to ascend and descend, causing her to seemingly walk on air. While phased, Shadowcat is immune to most physical attacks. However, energy attacks can sometimes affect her while she is in this state and most if not all magical attacks can harm her as well, despite her body being intangible. If she tries to pass through extremely dense materials, such as adamantium, it can cause her to be severely disoriented or experience intense pain. She can only phase through an object for as long as she can hold her breath.
    
  • Touch and go: Shadowcat's ability can also be extended toward being used on other people as well as objects as long as she maintains physical contact. At most, she can cause one fully grown adult male to phase through an object or become intangible with her, or, two to three small children of the same mass. The maximum amount of objects that she can cause to phase or become intangible is also approximately the mass of such an adult male. Shadowcat's phasing extends additionally to her own clothing so that she can pass through objects without losing them.
