Eridan moaned, he couldn't believe he was sent out here of all places. He'd been through hundreds of private schools, but this?! He didn't want to go to school with a bunch of freaks like him, he wanted to be normal, he'd give anything not to be a fish freak so he could go back and be with his friend Feferi. He yelped as he nearly ran through a red light he was so spaced out.
He pushed up his glasses and shook his head, taking a turn to go explore the town a little more. He blinked up at the mall, " Well what the devilfish is that?" He huffed, his accent making him sound as if he were talking underwater. He shook his head, pulled his lock and chain out of his messenger bag, and locked his bike up to the rack before making his way inside.
He didn't need to look around very long to find out where his next job would come from. A small cafe was nestled next to the front door, he knew he could get a job there, so why bother now? He wasn't paying attention when he bumped into someone!
" Hey! W-watch w-where you're goin!" he growled as he caught his glasses in midair and readjusted them on his face, " Hmph!" he dusted himself off and looked over the person he'd bumped into.

Another day, another few dollars, Dana thought as she ambled through the mall. She had just finished her shift at the record shop (not one of the ones that she owned; that would just be silly. Ya scrub. Get outta here), and was headed out to do some other stuff. Her headphones were on, and she was whistling along to a rather nice song she had recently found entitled "Simple Living". In fact, she was so distracted that she accidentally bumped into someone.
"My bad, dude," she said, readjusting her shades as she looked over the boy she had run into. Red hair, freckles, glasses... he wasn't bad looking. In fact, he was pretty cute. "But you ran into me too. You gotta watch where you're going."

He watched her a moment and huffed, " Yea well...." he couldn't exactly think of a come back at the moment, he shook his head and offered his hand, " Eridan Al-...Ampora." He smirked, " Do you know if there are any job openins around here?" He tucked his hands back into his pockets and looked around aimlessly. He was trying not to stare, but this was the first attractive girl that ever tried talking to him since the 'accident'. He looked back to her, meeting her shades with soft blue eyes.
There was a certain air of mystery about this girl, and he'd be lying if he didn't say he wanted to find out what was behind those glasses. Was she a mutant like he was? He wasn't entirely sure if he wanted to figure that out. He ran a hand through his hair, keeping it back. " If you're not busy, would you mind showin me around? I just got inta town and don't know my way around yet."

"Eridan, huh? I'm Dana, nice to meet you," Dana greeted, shaking the boy's hand. "Actually, a few stores need some help. What kind of job are you looking for, exactly?" Of course, the record store could stand to have a few more employees, but there were a few other stores that needed some help, too.
She smirked a bit upon being asked if she could show him around. "Well, my mother told me never to take strange boys I've just met on dates around town, but I'll make an exception for you," she teased, but there was a bit of sincerity. She'd never been in a relationship before, much less on a date. "But let's get you a job first, Newbie. All right?"

He nodded and blinked, " Newbie?" He sighed, there was that word again...oh well. " I worked in a coffee shop back home..." He looked about the mall, " I can do pretty much anything though, don't want to brag, but-" he examined his nails as he followed her. It didn't appear that there was anything he could fall into and possibly make his relationship with her nonexistent before it even started, so that was good. Nobody wanted a slimy fish to date anyway.
He blinked at one of the record shops. " Is that Mika?" he grinned at one of the records. Of course....the hipster would like hipster music wouldn't he? After being distracted a moment he coughed to clear his throat and nodded, " Continue..." >.>;;;

"Hehe," Dana chuckled a bit as Eridan trailed off of bragging about his skills. "Lucky for you, we've got a Starbucks about a section away. They could probably use a bit of help, especially from someone with experience... Where are you from, anyway, Newbie?" He HAD said he'd just moved here, didn't he? Why not strike up a conversation about it? As she led him through the mall, she was pleasantly surprised when the boy gravitated towards a record store.
Her record store. She followed him with raised eyebrows as he found his attention drawn to a Mika record. "Yep, Songs for Sorrow; Mika's second EP. This store is the only one in America that still has physical copies. It's also where I work, most of the time," she added with a sly grin. Honestly, it was nice to have someone that recognized some of the more obscure artists. This guy was already starting to impress her.
"Coincidentally, we could also use a few extra hands around here. Or do you want to keep looking around?"

" That would be great, depens on the pay a course." He crossed his arms and smirked, he nodded and gently fingered through the albums, " Minature tigers...Band of Horses...heh nice selection." He pushed his glasses up, " Alright, yea I wouldn't mind workin here." His glasses flashed, like something out of an anime, " Could be an interestin and welcome change." He smiled.
" I'm from Annapolis Maryland...my parents thought I'd learn more studyin abroad...don't know what they're sqwakin about..." He sighed gently and shook his head, " Better to be out of that rottin place I guess."

"Don't worry about the pay, Newbie. It's probably one of the better paying jobs in this whole joint," the blonde smirked knowingly at the teen's comment. Of course this place had an excellent selection of music; if it didn't, she wouldn't be working there, would she? Especially since she could just buy the place out and make it another "Strider Spins" branch.
"Oooh, Maryland, huh? We got ourselves a natural east coaster here. On the upside, you don't have your 'rents breathing down your neck," she remarked, giving Eridan a light slap on the back. "But anyway, you wanna keep looking around? Or do you want to get out of here and see this pretty little town we've got here? I haven't really tried it, but I'm pretty sure my bike can seat two people. "

" Represent," he smirked, trying to be cool then slumped, " I am not that awwesome..." he ran a hand through his hair, he gasped when she spoke of a two seater bike and blushed dark red, " I-I have my own bike!" he followed her out then blinked at her motorcycle, " I sea...Lead on..." he replied, still blushing, he couldn't lie...he was slightly nervous about getting on the contraption, but once he sat on behind her he blinked.
" Huh...well this isn't so BAAAAAAAAAD!" he screamed as the bike took off. He clung to her, not wanting to fall off, then hid his face in her back. " You do know how to drivve this effectivvely correct?" He huffed.

The amusement was clear on Dana's face as the boy very obviously tried to impress her, then sheepishly admitted that he wasn't as cool as he had just suggested. Then she smirked at Eridan's rather flustered response to her comment, leading him out of the mall, past the parking lot, and into an alley. "My bike's a bit different than yours," the electrokinetic replied knowingly, chuckling as the boy blushed upon seeing her bike. "Yeah, it's pretty badass, isn't it? Spent a fortune on this thing, and it's a hundred percent mine; custom-made to run on my powers, so I'm the only one on the planet that could use this."
She pressed a button on the handlebars, and the hood and windshield lifted slightly to give them room to sit. As she thought, the bike could fit the two of them, but it was a tight squeeze. With practiced efficiency, Dana channeled electricity through the motorcycle, which came to life at her touch. She revved it, and the front wheels glowed as electricity danced from the gaps in the axle. The motorcycle reared back, and then they were off, speeding down the streets of North Salem.
"What, you scared?" Dana called back teasingly as she skillfully weaved through the light traffic, feeling the boy's arms encircle her waist, clinging to her as if she was his lifeline. (Alright, to be fair, she kind of was at the moment)
She drove Eridan all around town, announcing when they had come to a point of interest. She did a rather good job, for her first time showing someone around, if she did say so herself.

For a while Eridan was terrified! He could feel himself shaking, but the more they drove, the more he seemed to relax and nod when she told him something. He watched her a moment, trying not to stare, but with a quiet sigh he shook his head and just let her talk. He pushed up his glasses and blinked, " So, is there like a pool around here or somethin?" He tilted his head, " Just curious..." She had shown him her mutation, Eridan was FAR from ready to flaunt his, but he may as well figure out where the pool was and when it was open.
He continued to hold on to her, just relishing in the fact that yes, she was a mutant just like him and no, she hadn't been repulsed by him yet. He didn't want to ruin that on the first night. Eridan bit his lip as he thought and wondered and tried to work everything through his brain. He felt he should show her since she felt so comfortable showing hers...He closed his eyes a moment, " So...what if by some random happenstance, I was a mutant....and by that same happenstance, it wasn't the prettiest mutation ever...what would you say?" He sighed and for a moment there was silence.
" You know what? Forget I said anythin it's fine." he smiled, " Just a stupid question s'all." He shrugged and held onto her as they rounded a corner.

Dana raised an eyebrow at the rather unexpected question, "A pool? We've got a few of them," she responded as they stopped at a traffic light. "The public ones are virtually always overcrowded with children, so I prefer to use my family's pool. Why, you wanna swim go for a swim or somethin'? Her parents wouldn't mind if she brought him home and hung out, though her brother was another story...
The blonde was broken from her inner musings once again as Eridan followed up with a tentative question regarding a mutation that he may or may not have, then quickly backpedaled to say that it was just a question. Now, Dana Wayne was no fool, and she was certainly savvy enough to recognize that the questions he was asking her were anything but hypothetical. He was, rather shyly, admitting to her that he was a mutant, and that it wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing. Is that why he asked if there was a pool somewhere? Because water was somehow related to his power, which was most likely some sort of transformation?
"Listen, Newbie," she started, revving the motorcycle as the light turned green, and they turned a corner, "If you happen to have a mutation that you don't think is all that pretty, I would say that I couldn't give a rat's plague-infested ass about it. Unless you turn into some sort of swamp monster that eats people or something else that ridiculous, it's all gravy to me."
As she said this, she maneuvered her bike off the street, heading down a dark alley. Finally, she slowed to a stop, casually lifting the hood of the bike so she could get off. "Alright, then now that we're all alone... I know you're out there. Show yourself."
